Fulton County Will Hold Property Tax Hearings Today

The Fulton County Commission is proposing to raise its general fund millage rate from 10.211 to 11.781 mills.

The Fulton County Commission today will hold two public hearings on a proposal to raise its millage rate.

The hearings will be held at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 9 at the Fulton County Government Center, located at 141 Pryor Street SW in Atlanta.

Another public hearing will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 16 in the same location. 

The public may also participate via videoconferencing from the North Fulton Service Center at 7741 Roswell Road in Sandy Springs or the South Fulton Service Center at 5600 Stonewall Tell Road in College Park.

All speakers will need to be present to fill out a speaker card by 10 a.m. or 6 p.m., respectively. 

Residents will be given a number in the order of appearance and allotted a two-minute maximum to speak.

The county is proposing to increase its current general fund millage rate to 11.781 mills from 10.211 mills. It's also proposing to set its bond fund millage rate at .27 mills. 

The increase, if approved, would be the county's first property tax increase since 1991. 

The proposed South Fulton Tax District millage rate is 12.469 mills, the same rate set in 2013.
