Josh Belinfante Expects Strong Fundraising Support to Continue

Sandy Springs' Belinfante raised nearly $130,000 for his State Senate campaign, at the end of 2011. He believes a reception by former Gov. Sonny Perdue will garner even more support.

State Senate candidate Josh Belinfante announced Monday that his campaign raised $129,358 in the last four months of 2011.

Belinfante, a first-time candidate, is seeking the Republican nomination for the 6th District State Senate seat currently held by Democrat Doug Stoner. The district includes Sandy Springs, Smyrna and Vinings.

"As we head toward the July Primary, our 2011 fundraising results demonstrate the broad strength of our support from across the district," said Belinfante, in the announcement. The attorney is a Sandy Springs Charter Commission member.

State ethics laws require candidates for state office to file campaign finance reports periodically. Belinfante, who previously served as Vice Chairman of the State Ethics Commission and last week unveiled his proposal for meaningful ethics reform in Georgia, filed his campaign finance report yesterday for the period ending Dec. 31, 2011.

BY THE NUMBERS:

  •          Raised in 2011: $129,358
  •          Total donors to date: 315
  •          Total cash on hand: $117,812

Belinfante believes those numbers will be buoyed even further this week when former Gov. Sonny Perdue hosts a reception for the campaign. He served as Perdue’s executive counsel.

After I looked at Josh's list of donors, it is quite obvious that Mr. Belinfante has already sold this seat to a bunch of his special interest friends. We need a representative who demonstrates leadership, not another lobbyist.

The ultimate goal for a lobbyist would to be to serve at the state capital. That would allow Josh Belinfante to get more state money for his friends. No wonder, so many PAC s gave him tons of money.

Kathy and RJ:
I know Josh, and he is a good man. We are running for the same Senate seat, and I would love to meet you sometime if you would be willing. You can send me an email at hunter@votehunterhill.com if you wish. Sincerely, Hunter

These comments are spoken out of a lack of knowledge of who this candidate really is. Please think before you slam someone who is willing to serve.
