Downtown development was the focus of the State of the City of Address by Mayor Eva Galambos on Monday.
The event was presented by the Sandy Springs/Perimeter Chamber of Commerce at the Westin Perimeter Atlanta North Hotel.
The Mayor discussed how last year the Economic Advisory Committee was tasked with ideas on identifying Sandy Springs’ brand and the type of businesses the city ideally wants to attract, filling vacant space in the downtown area and redevelopment of older apartment communities.
Galambos said the city is in the process of acquiring land from Roswell Road to Sandy Springs Circle, between Johnson Ferry Road and Mount Vernon. However, the goal is to have part of that land occupied by private developments.
