Redrawn District has Sandy Springs' Josh Belinfante Eyeing Senate Run

Belinfante is looking at running in the redrawn Senate District 6.

Josh Belinfante, a Sandy Springs Charter Commission member and state ethics commission vice chairman has resigned the latter to consider a state Senate campaign, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Friday.

Belinfante is looking at running in the redrawn Senate District 6, which covers a large part of Buckhead under new maps approved this week by the Legislature. 

A Sandy Springs resident, Belinfante is an attorney with Robbins Freed and previously served as executive counsel to Gov. Sonny Perdue, according to the Robbins Freed website. A University of Ga. Law School graduate, Belinfante is president elect of the Alumni Association.

Democratic Sen. Doug Stoner of Smyrna is the incumbent of the district, which will now stretch from Smyrna/Vinings through Sandy Springs into Buckhead.
