Road Repairs to Start in Several Sandy Springs Neighborhoods

The City of Sandy Springs starts staggard road construction in 11 neighborhoods, next week, according to a press statement.

On Tuesday, work starts on Old Campus Trail, Selkirk Drive and Brandon Place. Starting March 5, work begins on Riverwood Drive, Francyne Court and Halah Circle;  Castleridge Drive, Chevaux Court and Carol Lane will follow.

Residents living on Dudley Lane and Brinkley Lane will see road repairs begin in late March.

Start dates and time required to complete the projects are subject to change, based on weather conditions. Homeowners and drivers in these areas will experience some traffic delays as the road work is completed.

Reconstruction of the roads is a phased process. Road crews will first break up existing asphalt in the roads to be repaired. During this phase, expected to last no more than two days, traffic will be severely restricted along the affected streets.

In Phase Two, the road will be re-graded with a five-to-seven day curing process to allow the new pavement base to harden. During this waiting period, vehicles will be allowed to drive on the new material, with little traffic interruption.

During the final phase, road crews will apply new asphalt paving and restripe any traffic markings. Traffic delays can be expected during this phase. The process to reconstruct individual roads is expected to take 11 days, including the curing period, for each road.
