Sandy Springs Celebrates 'To Kill a Mockingbird'

Sandy Springs Reads events are held though May 13 Sandy Springs Library. Lefont Theaters screens "To Kill a Mockingbird" on April 28.

 

If you’ve noticed folks reading “To Kill a Mockingbird” around town, they may be participating in Sandy Springs Reads. It’s an annual event that promotes literacy and conversation on a single book.

Sandy Springs Reads events are held through May 13 at Sandy Springs Library.  Lefont Theaters screens “To Kill a Mockingbird” on April 28. A Q&A with film and Civil Rights historians will be held after the film.

Actor and activist Stephon Ferguson will discuss the impact of the film and perform words by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. for Sandy Springs Charter Middle School Students on April 25.

The Rotary Club of Sandy Springs, the Sandy Springs Womens Club, and Fran Farias, State Farm Agent donated copies of “To Kill a Mockingbird” to the Sandy Springs Charter Middle School media center.
