Sandy Springs Judge to Lead Georgia Council of Municipal Court Judges

Sandy Springs Municipal Court Judge Jim Anderson has been elected by the Georgia Council of Municipal Court Judges to serve as its President-Elect for the year which began July 1st. 

The Council of Municipal Court Judges is comprised of all of the Municipal Court Judges of Georgia. As a member of the Council’s Executive Committee, Judge Anderson serves as chairman of the Council’s Uniform Rules Committee and acts as the Council’s representative to the Judicial Council of Georgia’s Recusal Committee.

The Council of Municipal Court Judges was created by the Georgia Legislature to further the improvement of the municipal courts of Georgia and the administration of justice as well as to assist judges of the municipal courts in execution of their duties, as well as assist in the training of those judges. 

Anderson will serve as a voting member of the Judicial Council of Georgia, which is comprised of representatives of each class of courts in Georgia, including the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, Superior, State, Probate and Magistrate Courts.  The Judicial Council is the general oversight body created by the Georgia Supreme Court.

Judge Anderson was appointed as the first Judge of the Municipal Court of Sandy Springs at the first meeting of the Mayor and City Council on December 1, 2005, and was re-appointed for another four year term in 2009.  In 2010, he was appointed to a four year term as a Fulton County Magistrate Court Judge, and continues to serve in both the Sandy Springs Municipal Court and the Fulton County Magistrate Court.
