Sandy Springs Wal-Mart Rumors Lead to Moratorium on Land Development Applications

City officials want to align zoning ordinances and the city's Comprehensive Plan for downtown redevelopment.

 

Wal-Mart prompted the city’s moratorium on land-use petitions and development permit applications, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

On Tuesday, Sandy Springs spokesperson Sharon Kraun told Patch that city officials want to align zoning ordinances and the city’s Comprehensive Plan for downtown redevelopment.

In the AJC story, Kraun added that rumors of the possible Wal-Mart revealed the problem.

Several neighbors concerned about traffic that a Wal-Mart store would bring, attended Tuesday’s City Council meeting, when the 90-day moratorium was issued.
