‘Sidewalk to Nowhere’ Dilemma Resolved

City Council members agree that sidewalk in front of Sandy Springs home serves no purpose.

The road is nearly a mile long. “Eighty percent of the west side is a sidewalk,” said Councilwoman Karen McEnerny, during last week’s City Council meeting. “And then it inexplicably jumps over to the east side, which is his property, and runs the distance of his frontage and then it ends. So it really serves no purpose.”

Ivey calls it the ‘sidewalk to nowhere.’

Council members approved Ivey’s plans to remove the sidewalk and plant grass in its place.

“And then put myself up as a proponent to finish the sidewalk across the street, because it doesn’t quite go all the way up to [the intersection at Long Island Drive,” Ivey said.
