USPS to Stop Saturday Mail
A Sandy Springs resident says barely notices her Saturday mail delivery.
The United States Postal Service announced, Wednesday, plans to stop Saturday service. Agency officials said it would save $2 billion annually.
Saturday service will halt in August.

“The truth is I hardly ever notice that I get mail on Saturdays,” said Sandy Springs resident Rhoda Carty.
Thai Yoga Massage owner Gnossia Johnson believes Saturday service should stay. “If it works for some people to have Saturday service, then why not,” she asked.

A USPS press statement said packages will continue to be delivered six days per week. Mail addressed to PO Boxes will continue to be delivered on Saturdays. Post offices currently open on Saturdays will remain open on Saturdays.
The postalmaster general Patrick R. Donahoe told The New York Times that the agency had no choice and the move is a part of a five-year plan to return to profitability.
According to the USPS release, the Postal Service has its annual cost base by $15 billion annually since 2006. Since that time there has been a reduction in the workforce of 128,000 and 200 mail processing centers have closed.
