Work Crews Improving Ramp at Abernathy Road and Ga. 400

When completed Sandy Springs commuters should have an easier ride off the exit.

Georgia Department of Transportation crews were at work Wednesday and Thursday night on the ramp at Abernathy Road and Ga. 400.

The ramp will be widened to two lanes and extended to improve merging onto Ga. 400 north.

An announcement from the Perimeter Center Improvement Districts said the ramp will cost $2,064,400.

“That should help reduce the bottleneck that often occurs in that area during rush hours.”

“This project will improve the efficiency of the ramp and allow more vehicles to move quickly from Abernathy Road to Ga. 400 north,” said Yvonne Williams, president of the PCIDs. “That should help reduce the bottleneck that often occurs in that area during rush hours.”

GDOT crews will be off over the holiday weekend, but will return on Sept. 4.
