Two Riverwood Students Win FBLA Awards

The students from Riverwood International Charter School recently advanced to the 2014 National Leadership Conference in Tennessee.

After qualifying at the Future Business Leaders of America Georgia State Leadership Conference in March, eight Riverwood International Charter School students advanced to the 2014 National Leadership Conference in Tennessee.

More than 10,000 participants from across the United States and two countries met in Nashville at the end of June to sharpen their core business skills, expand their networks, and participate in more than 60 business and business-related competitive events.

Congratulations to Hunter Lankford and Visar Mehmeti for their third place award in Banking and Finance. Sharod Hinton, Remy Falciglia and Connor Gladney competed in Entrepreneurship, Cameron Scheele in Sports Management, Eric Jacobs in Marketing, Kara Wise in Public Speaking II and Jazondre Gibbs in Client Services. 

In addition to the competitions, students immersed themselves in educational workshops, visited an information-packed exhibit hall, and attended motivational keynotes on a broad range of business topics. Sheri Smith is the faculty sponsor of the Raider FBLA Chapter.

The Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda is the largest and oldest student business organization in the country. The organization competitions recognize and reward excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. 

The nonprofit association boasts a quarter million members and advisors in over 6,500 active middle school, high school and college chapters worldwide.
