Epstein School Honors Local Role Models

The Sandy Springs school also recognized students who spent their summer volunteering.

The Epstein School recently honored three community role models, and also paid tribute to several students who made significant contributions to the community over the summer.

  • Parents and students see Sandy Springs Police Officer Sammy Worsham regularly on the street when he is working during the school’s carpool. His strength and perseverance following a serious motorcycle accident in the summer of 2008 and a nearly yearlong recovery has inspired Epstein students and staff members.
  • Gwen Hughes is a member of Divas with a Cause, a group of professional singers who give of their time and energy to the community in order to motivate, educate and create more awareness about causes that are dear to their hearts. She has performed for Epstein students and faculty. Her passion for global education and her work with children have taken her music into the slums of Nairobi, Kenya, the immigrant areas of Paris, France, Turkey and Casablanca, Morocco.
  • Dr. Bernice Kirzner is The Epstein School’s new Associate Head of School. Bernice is a leader in the school and someone who has dedicated her life to educating children.
