Fulton School Board Set To Approve 2015 Budget

The Fulton County School Board will consider approving its fiscal year 2015 budget and a request for proposals for the North Springs Charter High School renovation project during its meeting on Thursday. 

The board will first convene at 5:30 p.m., and immediately adjourn into executive session. At 6 p.m., the board will come back to open session to recognize students and staff, and to allow for public comments.

At 7 p.m., the school board hold a public hearing on the fiscal year 2015 budget, which is slated to be approved at 7:30 p.m. School board members will meet at Dunwoody Springs Elementary School, located at 8100 Roberts Drive in Sandy Springs. 

The proposed budget sits at $886.4 million. The proposed budget includes adding one day to the school year – from 177 instructional days to 178 days; an average 2.5% salary increase; and is based upon the district holding its millage rate of 18.502 steady. 

Fo the North Springs high school renovation project, district staff is recommending the board award the RFP to Hogan Construction, Inc. to perform the work for $6.3 million.

The renovations include a new entrance addition, roofing replacement and interior building improvements such as door upgrades, painting, restroom upgrades, classroom storage cabinet replacements and new flooring. 

If approved, work could start in June and wrap up in November.
