HIES Alum and Golfer Davis Love III Named to Georgia Sports Hall of Fame

Love went to HIES when the Sandy Springs school only had eight grades. He has been on the golf tour 27 years where he has won 34 tournaments, including 20 on the PGA.

 

Holy Innocents' Episcopal School alum and golf great Davis Love III has been selected to the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. It was announced last week.

Love and six others who will be enshrined Feb. 23, 2013, were selected for induction by the GSHF Honors Court which met in Macon Tuesday.

Love will join Buck Belue, Skip Caray, Horace Grant, J.B. Hawkins, Heather Stepp McCormick and Reggie Wilkes..

He went to HIES when the Sandy Springs school only had eight grades ­ and later moved to Brunswick before embarking on his pro-career. Love has been on the golf tour 27 years where he has won 34 tournaments, including 20 on the PGA.

Other career highlights include winning the 1997 PGA Championship as well as the 1992 and 2003 Players Championships. He was runner-up at the Masters in both 1995 and 1999.

Currently, Love is serving as captain of the 2012 United States Ryder Cup Team.
