Accomplishment: Fifth-grader Aarin Strong uses technology to his advantage, using the internet to learn new skills and even connect with old friends via Wii.

Key to Awesomeness: Aarin uses websites such as Khan Academy as his own private online tutor. “I like to learn new things and find out easy ways to do things,” he said. "This site teaches me everything and I should do well in all my subjects. I am also learning how to create talking animation using Python programming language.”

Math has become a favortie subject. Aarin has learned different formulas to arrive at his answers.

Music is another passion. Last year Aarin was a student at Ison Springs where he composed an original song that was chosen as the official school song. Aarin continues to write songs and hopes to learn to play the guitar and drums. “I am really good at Guitar Hero and Rock Band so I think I should be good at drums and guitar,” he said.

The Woodland student also enjoys sports, and playing basketball and soccer year round for Upward Bound Sports at North Atlanta Church of Christ.

"I am excited about being...at Woodland Elementary and I will miss my friends at Ison Springs but I can still play with them on Wii and online. I know It is going to take awhile to get use to it but I know I will be a great fifth grader," said Aarin.
