North Springs Donates 1,000 lbs of Canned Food to CAC, Atlanta Food Bank

In the fifth annual food drive, Sandy Springs students and faculty won the Golden Can award over 'friendly rival' Riverwood International Charter School.

The Community Assistance Center and the Atlanta Food Bank received nearly 1,000 lbs of canned food donated by North Springs Charter High School Spartans, last week.

Students and faculty contributed cans in the school's fifth annual canned food drive sponsored by the North Springs' Interact Club, a national youth service organization affiliated locally with the Sandy Springs Rotary.

They also won the Rotary's Golden Can award for their efforts. It is the fifth consecutive year that North Springs has won the Golden Can award over Riverwood International Charter School.

"It's a friendly rivalry between our school and Riverwood, to see who collects the most cans" said Interact co-president Emily Kelly. "We were happy because we had only four school days last week for the drive due to the election. We're really proud how much Spartans support this every year."
