Riverwood Senior Gets Full Volleyball Scholarship

The Sandy Springs senior led the Raiders to an Elite 8 finish and was named All Area in 2009, and in 2011.

 

Riverwood International Charter School senior Sydni Ethredge has been recruited by the University of Memphis on a full volleyball scholarship.

Sydni, 17, is a two-time varsity letter recipient with the Riverwood Raiders girl’s volleyball team. Under the instruction of Coaches Leigh Hudson and Donald Macoy, Sydni led the Raiders to an Elite 8 finish and was named All Area in 2009, and in 2011, she led the program to a Region Runner-Up and Final Four finish, and was named All Area First Team.

Outside school, Sydni plays for the Atlanta Juniors Volleyball Club and has earned awards in the USA Volleyball Championships as well as the opportunity to train with the USAV High Performance program. She has played in top USA Volleyball High Performance Development camps, training at Olympic Training Centers in Lake Placid, NY and Colorado Springs, CO. Additionally she’s competed in the Junior Youth National White Team in Florida and the AAU Championships from 2010 - 2011. Coach Hudson says Sydni's natural athletic ability and power will be a great asset to the Memphis volleyball program. Sydni is the daughter of Kim Love and Nathan Etheredge of Sandy Springs.
