Fulton County School System bus drivers on Saturday will compete in the 30th annual Bus Driver Road-e-o competition.
The event is set for 10 a.m. April 26 at the district's North Transportation Center, located at 410 South Main Street in Alpharetta.
The Road-e-o is designed to help bus drivers improve and maintain their skills, and to test their skills in handling a school bus.
Bus drivers compete against each other using their skills in precision driving and knowledge of laws.
Each test will be timed or measured to determine the score, and will include an obstacle course with backing exercise, parallel parking, right and left hand turns, and student loading/unloading maneuvers.
Eligible bus drivers had to successfully compete in events in north and south Fulton County.
The six top scoring drivers and top two rookie drivers will now compete for the countywide title, with the top scoring winner advancing to the state School Bus Safety Competition in Perry in June.
Awards will be given to the Fulton County School Bus Road-e-o winners, and a picnic lunch and drawings for prizes will be provided for participants and guests.
In addition, 2013-2014 Transportation Department retirees will be recognized along with former Road-e-o winners from the past 30 years.
