Woodland Elementary's First STEM Night Event a Success

With the Sandy Springs teachers acting as facilitators, the students, parents, and other guests participated in activities that required investigation and problem solving.

Woodland Elementary School hosted its first STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) night for students and their guests, last week.

With the teachers acting as facilitators, the students, parents, and other guests participated in activities that required investigation and problem solving. Students and adults worked side-by-side to develop the best solution! Smiling faces indicated that learning and fun were being had by all.

  • 1st Grade families were challenged to build the tallest skyscraper.
  • 2nd Grade built simple machines out of K-Nex
  • 3rd Grade worked on a real world problem - oil spills.
  • 4th Grade studied aerodynamics as they attempted to construct the perfect "flying machine".
  • 5th Grade created floating gardens where material choice was an important part of the project.
