Fulton Chairman John Eaves Comments on Braves Move to Cobb

The new Atlanta Braves venue will be next door to Sandy Springs.

Statement from Fulton County Commission Chairman John Eaves and the Atlanta Braves move to from Turner Field to Cobb County.

I was deeply disappointed to hear John Schuerholz, President of the Atlanta Braves announce that "America's Team" was leaving the City of Atlanta and Fulton County which has been their home since 1966.

The legacy that the team has created since coming to Fulton has been unprecedented including from 1991 to 2005 being one of the most successful franchises in baseball, winning division titles 14 consecutive times, the World Series and most notable to the history books, Hank Aaron's breaking of Babe Ruth's career home run record in 1974.

The Braves' contribution to the City and the County deserves a second look by both the public and the private sectors here. It certainly deserves the same level of energy and support that the Atlanta Falcons received when they indicated that they might leave as well. We must work together to do everything fiscally possible to keep the Braves in Fulton County and the City of Atlanta.
