North Springs Senior Named Scholar Athlete of the Year

Sandy Springs senior Tori Weprinsky will receiver her award during a ceremony at the Fox Theatre. The awards reflect a 29-county region, which includes more than 250 public and private high schools.

 

North Springs Charter High School senior Tori Weprinksy has been selected the 2013 Female High School Scholar Athlete of Atlanta by the Atlanta Sports Council and will be honored at the 8th annual Atlanta Sports Awards on March 5, at The Fox Theatre.

The award, presented by Georgia Best Chevy Dealers, recognizes Atlanta male and female high school student-athletes who balance sports and academic achievement.

All finalists are nominated by their school principal and athletic director. Each recipient receives a $1,000 college scholarship. The awards reflect a 29-county region, which includes more than 250 public and private high schools.

Weprinsky plays varsity volleyball, basketball and soccer while earning a GPA that ranks her third her graduating class. She is a dual magnet student in science and music, president of National Honor Society, president of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a student ambassador, student government representative and secretary of Interact. She is an AP Scholar and a UGA Merit Scholar.

She won defensive player of the year in volleyball this season as her team made it to the Sweet Sixteen. She played shooting guard in basketball and is a wing defender in soccer. 

Weprinsky is still considering college options but knows that she will be majoring in pre-med working towards her goal of becoming a doctor.
