This Weekend! Booty Bike Ride, Ballet, Bookstore Celebration, Comedy and More

We've got 5 things to do in Sandy Springs and nearby, this weekend

 

  • 24 Hours of Booty Bike Ride. A 2.5 mile course will be open for cyclists through the Mount Vernon Woods community from 2 p.m., Saturday to 2 p.m., Sunday. “Booty” refers to a popular spot for cyclists in Charlotte, N.C., called, The Booty Loop. About 11 years ago, Spencer Leuders, rode the 2.8 mile loop for 24 hours and was inspired to start the fundraising event, which benefits the Lance Armstrong Foundation and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
  • Phoenix and Dragon's 25th Anniversary. The bookstore will have a full day of events on with everything from free psychic readings, chair massages, and gift giveaways, from 10 a.m.-8 p.m, Saturday. On Friday, a 7 p.m. book signing will be held with Susan Rushing author of "Suicide: From the Other Side."
  • Free Ballet Performance of Coppélia. The Metropolitan Ballet Theatre presents this enchanting love story of a dancing doll. Coppélia is ballet’s great comedy… telling the story of lovely Swanhilda, a girl who pretends to be a doll in order to regain the affection of Frantz, her sweetheart. 2 and 7 p.m., Saturday; 2 p.m, Sunday at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center. Free.
  • Stand-up Comedy. Pablo Francisco returns to The Punchline. Showtimes are 8 and 10 p.m., Friday; 6, 8 and 10 p.m., Saturday; and 8 p.m., Sunday. $28.
