5 Things This Weekend: Fun Includes Dads Race, Comedian Dom Irrera

Sandy Springs happenings on this Father's Day weekend.

 

 

. It's the festival celebrates its 15th anniversary with a performance by Nordic Singers from Denmark. The event includes a three-course gourmet dinner, cocktails and a silent auction. 7 p.m., Friday. $65. Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel at 2450 Galleria Parkway.

It's part of the Great Prostate Cancer Challenge taking place in 34 cities across the country, will feature a 5K run, a 1 mile walk, random prizes and runner goodies at 8 a.m., Saturday, outside Costco, 6350 Peachtree Dunwoody Road. Register online or at Phidippides, 220 Sandy Springs Circle, Friday. Race day registration will be from 6:30am-7:30am at the event. $30.

  Enjoy selected screenings of classics, festival favorites and overlooked second chances on the big screen at Lefont Theaters. This new series of film is intended to engage the community in developing a sense of appreciation in preserving the relationship between cinema and audience. Concerts by the Springs. The Swingin' Medallions perform their re-scheduled show at 7:30 p.m., Father's Day, at Heritage Green. Concert goers are encouraged to arrive early and picnic with family and friends. Gates open at 5 p.m. Blankets and coolers are welcomed; no outside tables please. Pets and smoking are not allowed.

Comedian Dom Irrera at The Punchline. The veteran comic has brought what he calls, "how to be Italian" humor to everything from "Seinfeld" to late night talk shows. Irrera performs Friday through Sunday. Visit the website for showtimes and prices.
