5 Things to do This Weekend: Music Legends, Kids Fun and Renowned Author at Big Trees

Sandy Springs Patch spotlights a variety of activities for you, this weekend.

 

  • Renowned author at Big Trees Forest. Gary Ferguson, author of “Nature's Keeper: John Ripley Forbes and the Children's Nature Movement,” will discuss his biography on renowned naturalist and conservationist, John Ripley Forbes, at Big Trees Forest Preserve, 7645 Roswell Road. The event is held 10:30-11 a.m., Saturday. Time Magazine called Forbes the “Johnny Appleseed” of America’s nature centers.
  • Flying Colors Butterfly Festival. delights everyone all weekend at the Chattahoochee Nature Center with hundreds of beautiful butterflies. There will be butterfly releases, crafts, live entertainment, and more. 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the CNC in Roswell. $10.
  • Kenny Rogers and Glen Campbell. "The Gambler" and "The Rhinestone Cowboy" are on the same stage this weekend at Chastain Park Amphitheatre. It's a chance to attend . The musc star has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, yet he has still been able to perform. The show starts at 8 p.m., Saturday. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets range from $25 lawn seats to $354 for a table of six.
  • Crosby, Stills and Nash. The legendary singer/songwriters perfrom at 8 p.m., Saturday, at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, in Alpharetta. Tickets range from $29-$99.
  • Stand-up: "Outlaw Southern Comedy." Guitar wielding comedian Tim Wilson brings his wit and humor to The Punchline. He performs through Sunday. Performances are $15-$20. Visit the website for showtimes.
