Tonight's council meeting and tomorrow night's public information meeting are very important. Our Council needs to hear what the citizens want! Proposed is a 1000 seat facility. To put that into perspective, picture that the alliance Theatre seat 770 people and The Georgia Ensamble Theater in Roswell seats 600. The alliance Theatre brings national as well as regional shows to its facility. Often they are unable to fill all of their seats and ticket sales don't cover their expenses. They are constantly required to have fund raising events to cover operating costs. The same challenge faces the GA Ensamble Theater. Now Sandy Springs officials want something even larger than both! Why? Do we really think we need something that large? Do we even want something that large? I don't. What we need is a smaller venue to encourage less elaborate, more local artists. School productions could also benefit from a well furnished theater but not one the size of the other two major theaters. I want to sustain the position of "bedroom community". What about you? Speak up!! Tell your council members!
