Sandy Springs-based Act3 Productions is one of five national finalists for the Playbill Community Service Award, which will be presented during the annual Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta on Saturday.

The award was created to highlight ways in which young theater students involved with the festival are giving back to their communities. A panel of adjudicators reviewed submissions from across the country and selected five finalists.

Videos describing the charitable activity of the five organizations are posted on Playbill.com, where Act3 asks all it's supporters to go and vote. The winning organization will receive a $1,000 prize to use to continue its charitable work.

The link for voting is: http://www.playbill.com/news/article/186198-Vote-Now-Playbill-Community-Service-Award-Celebrating-Youth-Theatre-Launches-Jan-6.  Voting is open until January 16.

The cast and crew of Act3's production of "Disney's The Little Mermaid JR." conducted a book drive to help the Sandy Springs Mission After School Program stock its library. Over 300 books were collected and donated for use by the 63 students from Lake Forest Elementary who attend the enrichment program.

Act3 Productons offers a full season of Broadway musicals and dramas.  The Act3 Arts Academy produces children's musicals and dramas and offers a full roster of theater classes and workshops for students in grades K through 12.  For more information, visit www.ac3productions.org.
