  A resident at Versailles Apartments on Roswell Road says families there need to know details of their upcoming displacement for a new development. Versailles and Chastain Apartment properties are being sold to JLB Partners for conversion to a luxury residential mixed-use development. The sale is not yet complete according to the parties. And JLB is awaiting approval of zone modification by the City of Sandy Springs. In a letter to the editor, a resident wrote: “There are a lot of families living in this complex with school-age children. We need to know are we going to get 1 month notice, 2 month notice or what, to vacate this property.  Please keep in mind that the property owner is still renting out new apartment and renewing leases.  …

Sandy Springs City Council Revisits Scientology Issue, Tuesday

  Scientology was a hot topic in Sandy Springs last month, but who knew a month ago that by now it would rival the Supreme Court’s health care ruling in conversation? Perhaps Katie Holmes. Given recent news headlines, this week's City Council meeting should be interesting. Council members are scheduled to vote on zoning modification for a Church of Scientology office building at Glenridge Drive and Roswell Road. The vote was delayed from the last meeting, in June, when many residents in attendance urged Council members not to approve the modification, which is about parking spaces for the building that would be converted to a church. Zero percent would probably be uncomfortable with a black church, 52% seems low for an organization like Scientology that has a documented history of destroying lives and families.   more ›
