Sandy Springs Shooting Suspect Arrested in Wilmington N.C.

Matthew Terry is wanted in the March shooting of ex-girlfriend Shawn Crew at Chastain Apartments on Roswell Road. A police tip led to his capture by Wilmington Police and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

  Matthew Terry has been on the run for allegedly shooting ex-girlfriend, Shawn Crew, in March. Last week, a police tip led Wilmington, N.C. police and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force to Terry at a Wilmington apartment complex, according to a WWAY news story. Terry was arrested last Thursday night and is awaiting extradition to Georgia. He was scheduled for court on Monday. Police believe Terry, was waiting for Crewswhen she arrived home on March 24. The two argued, Crew ran out of the apartment and was shot several times - once in the face - in the breezeway or stairway. Crew, 38, survived and was taken to Grady Hospital. Crew and Terry have a four-year-old son who was at the location when the shooting occurred but not injured. …

Police to Hold Another Children's Class Bullying and Stranger Danger

Through activities and straight talk, Sandy Springs Police encourage children to stand-up to bullies and report any bullying they see or experience to an adult. They also talk about cyber-bullying and child abduction.

  Gentle frankness appeared to grab children’s attention during a Children’s Safety class by the Sandy Springs Police, last year. Through activities and straight talk, officers Brian Morgan, Tim Burell and volunteer Michael Raskin encouraged children to stand-up to bullies and report any bullying they see or experience to an adult. They also talked about cyber-bullying and child abduction. Another class will be held at 6 p.m., May 23, at the Sandy Springs Police Department. Last November, officers told Patch frankness is necessary considering the information children already get through the internet. "Otherwise, they look at it as being talked down to," Raskin said. Nearby Sandy Springs: Another Victim Describes Carjacking

Atlanta Police are investigating to see if recent Buckhead carjackings and armed robberies over the last week may be connected. APD advises motorists to not exit their vehicle if their car is bumped.

  The victim of a Wednesday night carjacking described his ordeal to a WSB-TV news reporter. Mark Hutto explained how he and his wife were on the way home, about 11 p.m., when their car was bumped in the rear at West Wesley and Howell Mill Road. Hutto told WSB-TV that he got out of the car to see the carjacker pointing a gun at him. Two other men were in the rear car, he said. After he gave the carjacker his wallet, the suspect sped off in Hutto’s car and the men in the other car followed, the report said. Atlanta Police are investigating to see if recent carjackings and armed robberies over the last week may be connected, including an incident on Ellsworth Industrial Boulevard, Wednesday morning. Deadly Car Crash Simulated at North Springs for Students

Sandy Springs Fire Rescue and Police along with North Springs faculty simulated a deadly crash to motivate the Sandy Springs students to drive conscientiously. The school prom is Saturday night.

  On Tuesday morning, nearly 500 North Springs Charter High School juniors and seniors were in an assembly about safe driving when the loud sound of a car crash interrupted the program. The students were told to leave the auditorium and go outside. There, in front of the school, they saw a badly crashed car, three Sandy Springs Fire trucks, two rescue vehicles, one EMS truck and nine fire fighters working hard to disassemble the car to extricate the victims inside. Using axes and power tools, firefighters removed the car’s windshield, both doors and part of the roof to be able to reach the two teacher “victims” trapped inside.
