Rain Floods Huntcliff Stables, Horses Moved to Wills Park

Sandy Springs Fire Rescue and the City of Milton helped to transport about 20 horses to Wills Park in Alpharetta.

  Heavy rain into the Chattahoochee River caused flooding at the Huntcliff Stables in Sandy Springs on Sunday. A Fox5 Atlanta report said Sandy Springs firefighters and the City of Milton Fire Department helped to transport about 20 horses to Wills Park in Alpharetta as a precautionary measure.  Horse owner, Leslie Olsen, told Channel 2 News the horses remained calm during the rescue. Forty Huntcliff horses were rescued from high waters during the rains of September 2009, when water levels reached four feet. Channel 2 News reported that the horses could return home to Sandy Springs on Monday.

The characters in Act3 Production’s newest play “The Strange Attractor,” try to come to terms with "Why" – in their own way - years after a tragedy has bonded them together forever. “The Strange Attractor” is running at the Sandy Springs playhouse through Saturday. Weekend Festival Brings Together Food Drive and Fun

The afternoon event is held at the Morgan Falls Athletic Complex. All proceeds benefit the Community Assistance Center, which has served families in need in Sandy Springs and Dunwoody.

  The Community Assistance Center holds its first annual Food `n Fun Festival, Sunday, at the Morgan Falls Athletic Complex. The afternoon event includes a Hunger Awareness Walk, parade, Frisbee golf, a kids zone, arts and crafts, live music and food. Bring food for the team food drive contest. Prizes will be awarded to the team that raises the most amount of food. It’s all to help raise awareness of the CAC and help combat hunger and homelessness in the community. Proceeds will benefit the CAC, which has served families in need in Sandy Springs and Dunwoody since 1987.   A standing-room crowd of Mountaire Springs neighborhood homeowners and nearby residents turned out for an informational meeting on the fast-paced redevelopment in the area, Monday, at Sandy Springs Christian Church. Builders’ Rapid Redevelopment Startling Residents in Older Sandy Springs Neighborhood Two professionals in home renovations and real estate said a big reason the neighborhood has suddenly become so popular for homebuilders is the school district. Riverwood International Charter School and Heards Ferry are a big draw.  Demand is so high, realtor Brett Friedmann told the crowd that there's not enough supply to meet the demand of interested home buyers. Sandy Springs Artist Creates Painting Live at Midtown Cafe

Artist Dakoro created a painting live on Saturday, during a music and paint show at Kat’s Café in Midtown. He gave the completed work to an audience member who guessed the correct age of the person in the painting. See more below.

  Artist Dakoro Edwards, of Sandy Springs, created a painting live on Saturday, during a music and paint show at Kat’s Café in Midtown. Edwards said the painting is inspired by a hope that young women today would recognize their inner beauty rather than devalue themselves. He gave the completed work to an audience member who guessed the correct age of the person in the painting, which is 17.
