Great Escape: Yoga at the Library

Free your mind with a yoga class at the Sandy Springs Library.

Escape from your daily routine during free yoga classes at the Sandy Springs Library. Hatha Yoga and Vinyasa Yoga are held at 10 a.m. on Mondays and Saturdays in the library meeting room. The one-hour yoga classes are open to women and men of all levels. The library is located at on 395 Mount Vernon Hwy N.E. Corina Pia of Sandy Springs Yoga teaches the Monday class and recommends participants arrive early to ensure a space. Classes are limited to 18 people. Wear comfortable clothing, bring a yoga mat and “an open heart." [Corina Pia has a solo art show, “Glow of Life,” on display at the library.] The Sandy Springs Library also offers weekly Tai Chi, Spanish and ESL classes.

Great Escape: Atlanta Jewish Film Festival

Many films are sold out at Lefont Sandy Springs Theaters but not all.

Yes the weather's been great, but if you're having one of those crazy weeks and need to get away, you may be in luck. The Atlanta Jewish Film Festival is still going on. Several films at LeFont Sandy Springs Theaters are sold out, but not all of them. For instance, "Five Hours From Paris" is playing this afternoon. It's a humorous love story of a Tel Aviv cabbie in love with his son's Russian music teacher. Visit the festival website for films with available tickets. You are sure to be immersed in a good story and whisked into another time. The 20-day festival, which ends Feb. 27, has featured 66 narrative and documentary films at six theaters. I'm a big fan of LeFonte as our neighborhood Sandy Springs theater but they make it hard to like sometimes. Last night they had a 100 foot line with only one box office cashier on duty.
