ReplyIf more upstanding citizens lawfully carried their guns, the crazies would get off fewer shots.

ReplyHad Comcast and I hated it. Got U-verse and love it. I have not seen a tech since it was installed 6 months ago. I do miss the slow motion of the Directv DVR.

ReplyI often long for the days when I was able to view life with a Pollyanna attitude afforded me by youth and inexperience. Those days are long gone, driven away by life. I have witnessed murder, armed robberies, had friends forced to defend their lives with deadly force. I even have a fraternity brother who was shot while sitting in the food court when some nut went on a shooting spree. Guns are not the problem. People are. Owning a gun and having the right to carry just levels the playing field.
I did enjoy the hyperbole of the column. It was cute. I don't believe the average citizen walks around with armor piercing bullets.
(Counter-Argument A: But those people are dangerous because they, too, have guns. )
A person is dangerous because of a lack of regard for the lives of the victims.(Counter-Argument B: But less restrictive gun laws would also make it easier for dangerous people to better arm themselves.) Criminals are, by definition, not bound by gun laws. Gun laws only make it more difficult for law abiding citizens to defend themselves.
I respect the authors opinion and defend his right to publish what he believes. I just can't help but wonder if that opinion will stand the test of time and experience.
