Reply@Kevin
You make a fair point. Encouraging a "victim mentality" is counter-productive to minority progress.@Stephen:
You, too, make a good point. To encourage minorities to work especially hard, to be especially dedicated, surely facilitates progress.Giving fair thought to both, I am inclined more to Stephen's, than to Kevin's point.

Well-said, Stephen. There is a rather indistinct line between victim-baiting, on the one hand, and targeted encouragement on the other hand. Kevin's comment gave me pause. I think he makes a reasonable point; one worth considering. I am better for having read it. Still... on balance, I think the point goes to you.

@Eddie E.
Clearing brush in Crawford, TX is a really nifty way to ignore clear and compelling warnings of AQ terrorist attacks. It is also a heck of a lot more fun than attending to cities devastated by hurricanes. Heck... Clearing brush gives one the time to concoct phony reasons for invading foreign countries, for forging yellowcake documents to justify invasion, for planning torture centers, and for destroying economies.I guess the encouragement of scholarship is a real waste of time as compared with those Crawford capers. And just you wait. Will Obama ever be able to paint folksy pictures of himself in his bathtub? I mean... What the heck. Be reasonable.

ReplyAbout those teachers' pay packages...
Consider: Southern Baptists preachermen master but a single book... a work that's been on every "bookshelf" for several thousand years.For a couple of hours one day each week they add their two cents worth. Here in Georgia these GA-based babble-scholars net pay packages averaging $75k (Senior Pastor), and 68K (ministerial staff). http://compstudy.lifeway.com/summaryreport.do
...all the while basking in the adulation of worshipful sheep.Teachers should have it so good.

ReplySo teachers get paid too much, huh?
Well then, consider. Southern Baptists master a single book, then babble on about it, one day a week, for a living, For this preposterous scam, they who practice this flim flam in Georgia average a pay package of nearly $75k (Senior Pastor), and 68K (ministerial staff). http://compstudy.lifeway.com/summaryreport.doAnd they sock away these bucks while all the while basking in the adulation of worshipful sheep.
Not a bad gig, I'd say.

Nicely said. Teachers are easy prey for disgruntled goobers and doodle-faced grouches, and those who can"t distinguish between the possessive and the plural. That they minster to developing minds much as pediatricians minister to developing bodies earns them comparable respect and deference.I would no sooner disparage teachers than I would my own wonderful parents.

The Roswell-Windsor intersection is currently an utter disaster. Workdays, between 4:30 and 6, Windsor Pkwy traffic westward takes three or four lights to get through the intersect. And pity the poor families in the charming Meadowbrook area. They are for all practical purposes "landlocked".
So now they propose to reconfigure it, but to add a MegaSuperGargantumendous "mixed purpose" development... The intersection reconfiguration is but a fig leaf to hide the private parts who are conniving this preposterous development scam on Sandy Springs.
Progress is good.
Smarmy developer/politico scams are not.
So reconfigure the intersection; but shut down the monstrosity.
It's what Jesus would do.
