About 4 a.m., Sunday, Alejandro Palombini, 22, of Buford was traveling on a motorcycle, south on Roswell Road, when he was hit by the Jeep at the westbound entrance ramp to I-285. The driver of the vehicle fled west on 285.

Investigators are working with the car manufacturer to trace the parts of the white Jeep Cherokee left behind following the hit and run. The Cherokee is missing the grill and entire front bumper assembly.

Capt. Steve Rose said it is believed that the Cherokee dropped off another person at Mosaic prior to this photo. Police believe the car was at the apartments for only a few minutes before leaving through the gated entrance seen in this photo.

Palombini remains in serious condition at Atlanta Medical Center.
